Learn how to love and accept yourself unconditionally with these 6 easy mind exercises. Easily from home, with long lasting effects.

As a member of many international Facebook groups, and being acquaintanced to several hypnotherapist, I noticed that many of us struggle with self-love and self-acceptance.

I instantly remembered those teenage years in which every hurtful experience felt like the end of the world.

I remember the sleepless nights, the affected self-image and the self-destructing thoughts that occurred as a consequence

Little did I know that this was merely caused by a then underdeveloped teenage frontal cortex, and that nearly every teenager goes through this exact same phase.

Still, I remember what it felt like. And it wasn’t always pleasant.

But what if the feeling doesn’t go away?

Throughout the years I luckily started to develop this rational part of my brain. Fast-forward ten years, and I can genuinely consider myself happy now.

Why? Because I’m actively focusing on living life to the fullest, closely aligning all my endeavors to my personal desires and dreams. All with a peaceful mindset.

Maybe that’s because I’m an adult now. Or maybe because of the many psychology books that I’ve consumed so far. Perhaps even both. Who knows.

But what of those who are in their mid 40’s and still feel like this on a daily basis?

Or the recently graduated student that’s close to entering the infamous quarter life crisis?

To your surprise – or not – there are many people who cannot figure out how to love and accept themselves unconditionally. Perhaps you even recognize this yourself.

This tragic observation intrigued me to writing this blog.

I initially thought of dedicating an article to the reasons behind this phenomenon, but, after several mind spins, I decided to focus on the solutions instead.

So, do you personally feel stuck in a vicious mind cycle of inferiority? And are you struggling with loving and accepting yourself unconditionally?

Then read along, because these tips might be just the thing for you.

1. Be proud of your willingness to change

First, let me applaud you for the mere intention to change and improve your own mindset. To finally love and accept yourself unconditionally, no matter the circumstances.

You actively searched – or stumbled upon – this article for a reason. That in itself already means something.

Too many of us uphold an everlasting feeling of victim hood, always trying to find blame in the external factors instead of looking into ourselves.

Don’t get me wrong, people can definitely hurt you. And yes, you’re allowed to feel sad when that happens. The problem occurs, however, when an individual continuously refuses to grow due to that experience.

This way of thinking is incredibly counterproductive and will solely harm your own personal growth in the process.

We cannot change the world alone (as much as it needs to in some areas). Therefore, the logical alternative is to change our own mindset instead.

Making the first step towards a better life is already a great step towards loving, accepting and respecting yourself unconditionally.

You can do so by practicing one or more of the mind exercises given in this article.

Afterwards, you can enhance the effect by reading books about personal development, by listening to Hypnosis MP3’s and by taking steps to fulfill your wildest dreams.

2. Create positive thoughts about yourself

The second step revolves around positive thinking. In my previous article ‘3 Easy Ways to Train the Power of Your Subconscious Mind‘ I described how our thoughts and our self image are inextricably connected.

As we think, feel, and believe, so is the condition of our mind, body and circumstances.

The way you think about yourself will eventually translate into reality.

This is because your future actions will be formed by your current beliefs as a consequence.

If you feel worthless, like a failure or a nobody, what effect do you think it’ll have on your actions? It won’t be pretty, I promise you.

Luckily this phenomenon can work both ways. The key to breaking through the negativity lies in repeatedly giving your subconscious mind constructive, positive thoughts.

When these thoughts are frequently repeated, your subconscious mind will eventually accept them as true, allowing you to form a healthier mindset.

So, how can you use this step to boost your unconditional love and acceptance? Simply by thinking positive and giving compliments to yourself on a regular basis.

Sounds pretty simple, right? Well, it is.

Why should it be hard in the first place?

3. Train your subconscious mind

Did you know that you can literally train your subconscious mind?

In this step we’ll dive even further into the capacity of this fascinating and often misunderstood ‘tool’.

You’ve already learned that positive thinking will eventually boost the unconditional love and acceptance towards yourself.

But there are other methods that you can apply additionally for an even stronger effect:

3.1 Changing your mindset with hypnosis

Hypnosis is an excellent way to change your mindset into loving and accepting yourself unconditionally.

More often than not, most complaints link back to repressed traumas from childhood years, which are then – often unnoticeably – stored into your subconscious mind, without consciously realizing it.

It’s even possible to be (severely) traumatized by something you don’t even remember.

In order words, your mind might be affected by something you’re not consciously aware about. Hypnosis can help with this.

To keep it short for now: hypnosis applies positive suggestions into your subconsciousness, therefore replacing the negative ones that you’ve stored after traumatic experiences. This allows for your complaints to diminish or even disappear.

Hypnosis has proven to be very effective against obesityfearssleeping problemsaddictionstraumas and more, making it a great way to learn to love and accept yourself unconditionally as a consequence.

3.2 Talking to yourself before falling asleep

Another way to learn to love and accept yourself unconditionally is to speak to your subconsciousness before falling asleep.

I know, I know. This might sound weird at first, but bear with me a sec.

Talking to yourself before sleeping is actually an amazing and easy way to change negative personal beliefs into positive and constructive ones.

Why? Because the highest degree of outcropping the subconscious mind occurs just prior to sleep and just after we awaken, allowing you to reprogram your subconscious mind while sleeping.

Before using this method you will have to relax your mind and body to get into a sleepy state.

Once fully relaxed and receptive, plainly state to your subconscious mind that you want a specific thing accomplished.

In this case, the suggestion could be something like: “I love and accept myself unconditionally. I will happily live my days with full confidence and acceptance towards myself.”

Repeat this sentence each night until you fall asleep, and continue doing this for at least 2 to 3 weeks. I promise you, it wont disappoint.

4. Visualize a better version of yourself

Did you know that the image you have of yourself determines how you will deal with the conditions of life? You basically become what you visualize about yourself.

Brain scan studies show that there’s a close connection between imagining something and the objective reality.

It turns out that, when we imagine something, the same parts of our brain are used as when we are actually seeing something.

Having that said, in terms of loving and accepting yourself unconditionally, you can visualize yourself as a person that does just that.

The solution is to avoid thinking about your negative self image and replace it with the vision of yourself that you desire.

Do this daily and repetitively and you’ll eventually feel the difference.

5. Feel grateful for all that you have to offer

Sometimes we’re so blinded by our desires that we’re often oblivious to the life happening around us.

Things can always get worse. And, well, you know.. life is short.

That’s why I highly recommend you to consciously focus on the positive aspects of life, instead of continuously focusing on the negative ones.

You can do this by practicing gratefulness. One easy method to do this is by writing down the things you’re grateful for on a daily basis.

Think of your family for example, the food on the table, the roof over your head, the friends who always have your back, or simply the fact that you’re alive as a healthy human being.

But aside from feeling grateful for your surroundings, I also want you to feel grateful for you.

To do this, I want you to stop nitpicking on your flaws and focus on your beautiful qualities instead. Here are some questions to think about:

  • What are the things you’re good at? (example: singing, sports, writing, learning, organizing et cetera).
  • What beautiful characteristics do you embody? (example: kindness, adventurous, spirituality, ambitiousness, high emotional or analytical intelligence et cetera).
  • What makes you different from your peers? (example: being extremely good at X, or knowing a lot about Y).

Dive deep into the core of your soul and try to feel grateful for the person that you are inside.

Unconditional love and acceptance will follow as a consequence.

6. Invest in your mental development

The final step revolves around investing in your mental development.

Now, mental development is a broad term, so it’s best to specify which area you want to develop yourself in beforehand.

Here are a few examples:

  • Increasing emotional intelligence;
  • Eliminating high levels of stress;
  • Discovering and realizing your life’s purpose;
  • Creating constructive habits;
  • Gaining more confidence;
  • And of course: to love and accept yourself.

Once you’ve selected your goal, you can think about the means to achieving it. You can start by adjusting the previously mentioned mind exercises to your specific goal.

Afterwards, I highly recommend you to – also – buy self-help books or to listen to (Free) Hypnosis MP3’s to increase ánd maintain the already integrated powerful effects.

Another advise would be take immediate action now, no matter how small.

Often, the first step is the hardest, so its best to tackle this right away. Don’t allow your daily life to invent excuses to get started.
