Life can be amazing. Think about love, opportunities, travels, accomplishments. All kinds of things that fill you with joy. But where is love, also is pain. And where is confidence, sadly, also is anxiety.
Anxiety can block you from living your life happily and peacefully. It’s is a very uncomfortable and obstructive thing that blocks you from taking chances that could really make life better.
Because, well, you know, what happens if?
Do you want to get rid of your social anxiety? Like, permanently? In this article I’ll dive deeper into the possibilities of hypnosis for social anxiety.
How social anxiety affects your life
Fear of public speaking, rejection, extreme shyness, body insecurity, fear of failure.. Recognizable?
These fears can greatly influence your life, both at home and at work. The advice you get from your environment is probably something like: “Practice makes perfect!” or “Just get over it!” But easier said that done, am I right?
Hopelessly you follow training after training. You might even visit self improvement course here and there, and you search the internet daily for the billion dollar advice.
And although you notice a slight improvement once in a while, the social anxiety still dominates your brain.
How’s that even possible?
“Why doesn’t it just go away?!”
Well, social anxiety is very difficult to overcome, especially on your own. The reason it’s so difficult is because fear(s) are primarily based on negative beliefs that are stored into your subconscious mind.
This subconsciousness functions an automatic pilot that you cannot control yourself but still determines 95% of your actions.
It has collected tons of emotions and beliefs, mostly during your childhood (0 to 4 years)
The most common negative beliefs are as follows:
- I have to be perfect for the outside world.
- I am not important enough.
- Other people are much more successful or smarter than me.
- I’m not worth it all.
- If I say “no”, no one will love me anymore.
- I have to be strong and tough in this world.
- I am never lucky. Bad things always happen to me.
- Emotions make me weak.
You have no influence on this part of your mind whatsoever. That’s why it’s so difficult to fix (or ignore) the physical effects of your anxiety, like sweaty body, shaking hands, and busy intestines.
You know that you shouldn’t be afraid, but your subconsciousness still is.
For example: you have a very important presentation at work for a medium-sized audience.
Your mind tells you you’re okay, and deep down you’re actually convinced that you are! You’re prepared, you know the words by heart, and you’re ready to kick some ass.
But then your stomach makes a 180. You’re sweating like crazy and you can’t see clearly anymore.
You’re confident and prepared, but you’re body still shows (extreme) signs of anxiety. Why?
The short answer is: you might need to fix something that is negatively stored into your subconsciousness. Luckily, hypnosis can help with that.
